From the US there are direct flights to Belize City from Houston, Dallas, Charlotte, and of course Miami. From the UK there are no direct flights, so you need to go through the US - search the internet for the best deals - often this will be via Miami. For UK visitors, flight schedules mean it is always necessary to spend a night in the US. As Miami hotels are more expensive as a rule than say, Houston hotels, it's worth checking the overall cost of flight plus overnight hotel before deciding the best deal. Flights back to the UK do not entail an overnight stay in the US.
When you arrive at Philip Goldson Airport Belize City you catch a flight with Maya Island Airways or Tropic Air down to Placencia Airport. It is just a short walk of 100 yards or so from the international arrivals area to the check in desk for Maya and Tropic. You can book tickets on line or by telephone. We have found Maya particularly efficient when booking flights by phone from the UK.
The Cabanas from the dock - Lively Waters is the first floor, Treetops the top floor
After an enjoyable flight of around half an hour in a small aircraft, getting your first glimpses of beautiful Belize en route, you arrive at Placencia airport where you will be collected directly from the edge of the airfield by one of our guides in his comfortable boat. Your holiday really begins as you journey across the lagoon (perhaps catching sight of a manatee or a school of dolphins as you go) through the mangroves and along the coast, with the magical Maya Mountains blue in the distance. After about an hour, you draw up directly to the dock at Steppingstones. (We have no road access and can only be reached by boat).
